Business Message

Phelge Nepal is a fair trade exporter of fine quality crafts made in Nepal, world-renowned for its unique crafts that involves hand processing skills passed down through generations. Founded in 2005 by myself, we work only with producers, small to medium size, that pay their workers reasonably and provide safe and healthy work places. 5% of net sales go to well managed local charities.

Specialist in homewares (blankets, table linens, papercraft decors) and fashion shawls 90x200 cm, stoles 70x200 cm, scarves, neckties, in the standard 70% pashmina cashmere-30% silk and the 100% cashmere in plain, twill, herringbone, zigzag, diamond cut, tweed, random, & other weaves, from 2-ply up to 12 ply. We constantly innovate weave designs & welcome buyer's designs as well. We make travel kits (throw, pillowcase-bag, & eyemask) for airlines, resort hotels, and personal use.

In shawls and scarves, aside from our regular pashmina cashmere and blends, we offer our exclusive handpainted edition in lightweight pashmina cashmere-silk and also in pure silk (crepe, georgette or satin), using freehand and resin outline technique. Our producer has been doing this craft for over a decade. We offer nature abstracts, a variety of floral & animal designs, ethnic-inspired designs, and more.

Paper-making in Nepal is a vibrant art form, deeply imbedded in its culture and history. Skilled Nepalese artisans have been crafting handmade paper for centuries from the bark of the Daphne shrub, locally known as lokta, which grows in moist coniferous jungles at altitudes above 2,000 metres. The lokta shrub is harvested using traditional methods. After harvest, lokta regenerates completely every 4 years, thus maintaining the eco-balance of its native wilderness. Lokta paper is prized for its attractive texture, non-acidity, insect repellant properties, extraordinary strength, and exceptional durability. Quite versatile, it comes in a variety of finished surfaces, and can be dyed with vegetable or chemical dyes in plain or a combination of colors in as many designs imaginable. It is durable and can take a lot of handling. It is absorbent and takes adhesives well. These papers lend themselves to projects where another object is being covered. They are great for stationery items, decorative boxes, photo frames & albums, book arts, wall paper, lampshades, lanterns, shopping bags, wine bags or boxes, etc. We do all these in our original design collection series (golden feather, coral, doily, elephant stripes, romantic, classic flower, classic leaf, pink butterfly, and more.)
